Trustees: Linda Olson
Position: BFMT Secretary
Work: Li Po Chun UWC teacher of English and World Literature. Head of House from 1996. Assistant Head of Languages 2000-2003. Acting Head of Residences 2003-2004.
Linda worked with Blair for nine years at Li Po Chun United World College, where she has been working as a teacher, a tutor, and Head of House (the latter a job she shared with Blair initially) and was a close friend of Blairs. Blair’s desire to ensure that the College helped students in the study of their mother tongue literatures and cultures was an inspiration when she was Assistant Head of Languages at the College. Blair strongly supported her in her services towards helping disadvantaged children as well as being understanding of the demands made on her by her own daughter. His example of accepting differences even when radically different views were expressed was also something she highly valued. Linda has further helped to continue an environmental protection service that Blair co-founded, which monitors corals in one of Hong Kong’s marine parks. Blair’s interest in East Timor sparked her own and when she visited the country, she was impressed by the practical idealism evident in so many of those she met, despite the immense challenges that the country faces. She hopes the Trust will keep Blair’s memory alive and help to contribute to education in East Timor. Linda was a valued and trusted friend to both Blair and Wendy, and her dedication and commitment to the Trust has been a driving force to us all.
